Professor Frank Bezzina was officially sworn in today as the 82nd Rector of the University of Malta, marking the start of a new chapter for the country’s highest educational institution. President Myriam Spiteri Debono was also in attendance for the occasion.Bezzina succeeds Professor Alfred J. Vella, who served as Rector since 2016, following his election to the role earlier this year. His appointment marks the beginning of a five-year term, during which he will oversee the university’s strategic direction, research priorities and academic development.As Rector, Bezzina will hold the University’s highest academic office, representing the institution both locally and internationally while leading its vision for higher education and innovation.Today’s ceremony included the formal declaration by Pro-Chancellor Karmenu Vella, the official handover of office and the installation of the new Rector, accompanied by performances from the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.Congratulations and best of luck to Prof. Frank Bezzina!•
