Vice President JD Vance called out Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett on Wednesday after she sided with the liberals on the high court and struck down President Trump executive order ending birthright citizenship for babies born to illegal aliens. The US Supreme Court on Tuesday struck down President Trump’s executive order on birthright citizenship in a 5-4 decision.Chief Justice Roberts wrote the majority opinion.“Children born in the United States to parents unlawfully or temporarily present are “subject to the jurisdiction” of the United States and are citizens at birth under the Fourteenth Amendment’s Citizenship Clause,” Roberts wrote.Roberts was joined by Amy Coney Barrett, Kagan, Sotomayor and Jackson.A reporter asked Vance to weigh in on the response to Amy Coney Barrett’s decision to side with the liberal justices. “Some conservatives are angry with Barrett. Are you one of them?” a reporter for The Daily Wire asked Vance.“Do I think she made a mistake in the ruling? I do!” Vance said, adding, “I don’t know how anybody can say that if a person who is an illegal alien or a person, for example, who’s pregnant and comes to the United States on a vacation, they have a baby and all of a sudden their entire family gets the benefits of American citizenship?”“I don’t think that’s what the framers of the 14th Amendment had in mind. I don’t think it’s the right case,” Vance said.“But look, it was 5-4. Sometimes the Supreme Court makes mistakes. We’re going to try to correct that mistake, but nobody’s perfect, including the Supreme Court,” Vance said.WATCH:!function(r,u,m,b,l,e){r._Rumble=b,r[b]||(r[b]=function(){(r[b]._=r[b]._||[]).push(arguments);if(r[b]._.length==1){l=u.createElement(m),e=u.getElementsByTagName(m)[0],l.async=1,l.src="https://rumble.com/embedJS/u4ni4cs"+(arguments[1].video?'.'+arguments[1].video:'')+"/?url="+encodeURIComponent(location.href)+"&args="+encodeURIComponent(JSON.stringify([].slice.apply(arguments))),e.parentNode.insertBefore(l,e)}})}(window, document, "script", "Rumble");Rumble("play", {"video":"v79x9mw","div":"rumble_v79x9mw"});Conservative justices Alito and Thomas also said the 14th Amendment was not meant to give foreigners with foreign allegiances citizenship. Justice Thomas rightfully said that the reconstruction amendments after the Civil War – specifically the 14th Amendment — were to ensure that the children of black slaves would be given citizenship.“Blacks were entitled to citizenship because they were Americans. They had no other homeland, owed no allegiance to any foreign power, and were subject to no other authority. They “fought and bled in the same battles,” “gained and gloried in the same victories,” and were “liable to be called upon to defend [America] in time of war” alongside every other citizen,” Justice Thomas wrote.“In doing so, the Court adds to the sad history of the Fourteenth Amendment, which was designed and understood to secure equal rights for the freed blacks but has instead been repurposed for political projects that the Reconstruction Congress did not support,” Thomas added. The post Vance Calls Out Amy Coney Barrett For Striking Down Trump’s Executive Order on Birthright Citizenship (VIDEO) appeared first on The Gateway Pundit.
