Christian Pulisic “ready to go” for USMNT starting lineup return

Wait 5 sec.

Christian Pulisic is ready to make his return to the U.S. Men’s National Team starting lineup on Wednesday, should head coach Mauricio Pochettino decide to call on him. Pulisic played 33 minutes as a substitute in the USMNT’s 3-2 group stage finale loss to Turkey at the FIFA World Cup last Thursday. The USMNT star attacker played just 45 minutes in the Americans’ 4-1 opening night win over Paraguay before leaving the match with a calf injury. Pulisic was not able to feature in the subsequent 2-0 victory over Australia but made his long-awaited return after a full week of training in California, delivering a lively cameo off the bench. The 27-year-old has struggled to play a full 90-minute shift for the USMNT or AC Milan over the past four months, last going the distance back on March 15. Pulisic played the full 90 minutes only three times for the Rossoneri in 2026 and six times in total dating back to last August, with only one of those appearances coming in USMNT colors (September 2025 vs. South Korea). While fans may be worried about Pulisic’s long-term fitness, the Pennsylvania native confirmed his availability ahead of Wednesday’s Round of 32 showdown with Bosnia & Herzegovina in San Francisco. “I felt great in the last game against Turkey,” Pulisic told reporters from USMNT camp. “I’m feeling good this week, and I’m definitely ready to go for tomorrow.”The USMNT will be seeking just their second-ever knockout stage victory at a FIFA World Cup and a first since defeating CONCACAF rivals Mexico 2-0 back in 2002. Should the Americans get by Bosnia-Herzegovina on Wednesday, they will meet either Belgium or Senegal in the Round of 16 on July 6 in Seattle.
