Michael Farrugia has officially taken over as Group CEO of Farsons, succeeding Norman Aquilina as the company prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary.The appointment was first announced in September 2025 as part of a planned leadership succession process and officially came into effect today.Farrugia joined the Farsons Group in 2006 and has held a number of senior leadership positions over the past two decades. He was appointed an executive director in 2011 and currently chairs both Farsons Beverage Imports Company Ltd and The Brewhouse Company Ltd. He also serves on the boards of several other companies within the group.Commenting on his appointment, Farrugia described it as “a privilege” to lead one of Malta’s best-known companies.“As we approach our 100th anniversary, I look forward to building on the strong foundations and values that have shaped the group over generations, while continuing to strengthen our business, invest in our people and brands, and pursue opportunities for sustainable growth both locally and internationally,” he said.Farsons said the appointment forms part of a planned leadership transition aimed at positioning the group for its next chapter.Photo: Farsons Group•
