Netflix Making Live-Action Persona TV Show Based on Game Series

Wait 5 sec.

We’ll see some sort of Netflix live-action TV show based on the Persona game series in the future. However, it is currently unknown if this will be based on a specific entry like Persona 3 Reload or Persona 5 Royal or an original story with some of the themes and elements present. There’s also no expected release window for the possible project. [Thanks, Variety!] While exact details about how the Persona game series could influence the Netflix TV show are slim, Variety did mention some of the people tied to it. Executive Producers will come from 21 Laps Entertainment and Story Kitchen. The former most recently worked on both Stranger Things and Stranger Things: Tales from ’85, Last Man Standing, Deadpool & Wolverine, and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip. Story Kitchen worked on the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movies. Sega’s Toru Nakahara, who also worked on the live-action Sonic films, will be an executive producer too. The showrunner and writer Christopher Monfette worked on the TV shows 9-1-1, 12 Monkeys, and Star Trek: Picard.  While there haven’t been any live-action Persona TV shows before, we have seen anime adaptations of some games and stage plays. Persona 3 inspired Persona 3 Trinity Soul, four movies, and stage shows. There are two Persona 4 anime series, with one including elements from the updated Golden release, and stage plays. And of course, Persona 5 inspired its own anime series and stage play. Crunchyroll is the streaming home of Persona 4 the Golden Animation, Persona 5 the Animation, Persona 5 the Animation: The Day Breakers, and Persona 5 the Stage.  The Netflix Persona series is in development.
