NAIROBI, Kenya Jun 30 – Kenya and the United Kingdom have strengthened their partnership against organised crime following the donation of advanced investigative equipment to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.The technology, handed over by the UK National Crime Agency’s Nairobi Office, is expected to bolster investigations into drug trafficking and other transnational crimes.Speaking during the handover, DCI Director Mohamed Amin said the new tools will improve the Anti-Narcotics Unit’s ability to investigate criminals who use digital platforms and financial systems to conceal illegal activities.“To effectively counter criminal networks that exploit digital technologies and complex financial systems, we must equip ourselves with the right tools,” Amin stated.He said technology has become critical in tackling criminal networks involved in drug trafficking, money laundering and other cross-border crimes.The equipment will strengthen the work of the Anti-Narcotics Unit by enhancing intelligence gathering and investigations.The UK said the donation reflects its confidence in the DCI’s professionalism and its commitment to supporting regional security.The UK National Crime Agency added that it will continue working closely with Kenyan authorities to combat drug trafficking, cybercrime, human trafficking and terrorism financing.“This donation reflects the United Kingdom’s confidence in the professionalism of the DCI and its vital role in safeguarding both national and regional security,” said Amanda Hickman, the International Liaison Officer for the NCA Nairobi.
