Carlos Pace has been granted bail, while the court has reduced the bail deposit required for his brother Cleavon in the wider Pace family usury case. Both brothers were also accused in connection with the Armed Forces of Malta cannabis theft case back in 2025.According to TVMNews, Magistrate Lara Lanfranco granted Carlos Pace bail against a €15,000 deposit and a €35,000 personal guarantee. A similar request had been rejected by the court just three weeks ago.Meanwhile, the court reduced Cleavon Pace’s bail deposit from €15,000 to €10,000 after he argued that he was unable to pay the original amount. Cleavon had already been granted bail earlier this month. The defence argued that both brothers had already spent a considerable period in custody and presented evidence of prospective employment, as well as a third-party guarantee in support of their requests. However, the prosecution opposed the applications, arguing that several witnesses have yet to testify and alleging that evidence presented so far points to the active involvement of Carlos Pace and Maria Grixti, including in the alleged arrangement of payments.Carlos and Cleavon Pace are facing charges linked to the alleged theft of cannabis from the Armed Forces of Malta early last year. They are also accused of breaching previous bail conditions. The wider case also sees other members of the Pace family facing charges including money laundering, usury, recidivism and other financial crimes. The court also rejected a bail request filed by Maria Grixti, the partner of Keith Pace, who remains in custody. The prosecution was led by Inspector Lianne Bonello, assisted by lawyers Neville Galea and Michael Muscat on behalf of the Attorney General. Lawyers Franco Debono, Marion Camilleri and Adreana Zammit appeared for all the accused.•
