Tyson Fury is heading to Thailand to lock horns with rugged Polish veteran Mariusz Wach on July 24, live on Netflix.‘The Gypsy King’ recently relocated his training camps to Mainland Southeast Asia and will take on Wach at the Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya in a tune-up for his long-awaited all-British showdown with Anthony Joshua.Fury last fought in April when he outpointed Makhmudov in LondonGettyJoshua-Fury has been tentatively pencilled in for the back end of the year, although, as has been highly publicised, the location and date are yet to be confirmed. The fight is contingent upon Fury getting past Wach, and Joshua besting lesser-known Albanian Kristian Prenga in his own warm-up bout one day later on July 25. It would serve as a massive shock were either man to lose, particularly Fury, who is facing an opponent well beyond his peak.Wach (39-13) is 46 years old, and while he once challenged for the unified WBA, WBC and IBF heavyweight titles against Wladimir Klitschko, that was 14 years ago. These days Wach is used as a durable journeyman, noted for his iron chin and ability to withstand punishment. Wach has lost 7 of his last 10 bouts and was stopped inside two rounds by Moses Itauma in July 2024.‘The Viking’ has also shared the ring with Dillian Whyte, Martin Bakole, Hughie Fury, Jarrell Miller, and Alexander Povetkin. It marks a step down in opposition from Fury’s last outing in April when he outpointed Arslanbek Makhmudov in his first fight in 16 months.Organisers were very clear that they didn’t want opponents that could potentially jeopardise Fury and Joshua’s money-spinning clash, and both men’s tune-ups reflect this. What has Tyson Fury said about the fight?Fury said of his fight: “2026 is a landmark year for me in boxing and I’m excited to be able to bring this event to Pattaya, a part of the world that is special to me.Fury-Wach lands on Netflix one day before Joshua’s own tune-up with Prenga“We’re coming together to put on a great show for the fans, while using the opportunity to give back [to] the local community, who have been so good to me every time I have visited.“At the same time, I’m fully focused on preparing for a tough opponent and making sure I’m the best version of Tyson Fury going into fight night. “It’s the start of a huge second half of the year for me.”Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, added: “Boxing is a better place with Tyson Fury in it, so it’s fantastic to have him back in action on Friday 24th July.“Tyson is in great shape and completely focused on putting on a show against Mariusz Wach.“He’s a true global superstar, and I’ve no doubt the fans will pack the place out in Thailand to watch a vintage performance from the Gypsy King.”Tickets for the event go on sale the week commencing July 6.
