The 24-year-old is enjoying an impressive World Cup campaign with the USA, scoring two goals in two games and being named man of the match in both. Balogun, who spent 14 years in Arsenal’s academy after joining at the age of eight, would become the first player to cross the north London divide since Emmanuel Adebayor in 2011. Despite his Arsenal past, many Spurs fans remain open to the move. One supporter said: “I like it”, while another added: “Oh god pls no”. Criticism continued with one fan stating: “This striker market is really poor, but surely we can do better than whatever this is.” A fourth fan commented: “Not happening. We will see Will Lankshear starting for us before spending on Balogun (who is highly overrated).” Others were more enthusiastic, with one saying: “Him dunking on the Gooners will be amazing”, and another adding: “YESSSSSSS HIM AND MARMOUSH – GET RID OF SOLANKE AND RICHY.” Another supporter wrote: “Been a handful at the World Cup. Moving Richarlison on and getting Balogun in would be decent.” Yet some remained unconvinced, with one stating: “What’s the point? He’s not a significant upgrade on the strikers we have, we need a proven striker.” A final fan summed up the debate with: “He’s a Hale End product 💀 reverse Sol Campbell?”#Tottenham have made signing Folarin Balogun a priority.Chelsea and PSG also interested.[@sebnonda / @Santi_J_FM]🥇 pic.twitter.com/xrvcBcMGon— Tottenham Tiers (@TottenhamTiers) June 30, 2026Spurs may have room for Balogun if Richarlison leavesIn terms of output, Balogun enjoyed a more productive spell last season than Tottenham’s two current forwards. Dominic Solanke spent much of the campaign sidelined, returning to make 15 appearances and scoring three Premier League goals. Richarlison fared better, registering 11 goals and four assists across 32 games. There is talk that Spurs want to move the Brazilian on, and if that happens, it could open the door for a Balogun transfer.READ MORE: Champions League club join Brentford in the race to sign Tottenham’s Pape SarrThe post ‘Surely we can do better’ – Tottenham fans left split over latest World Cup striker links appeared first on Spurs Web.
