Cousins set out to eat as many McDonald’s nuggets as possible with no time limit. The staff couldn’t believe the final score

Wait 5 sec.

Two cousins based in Los Angeles faced off in a McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets eating competition, according to a video posted on their TikTok account, Cousin Hunger Games. The account is run by two women identified as Teigen and Avery, and are said to be cousins. The video, which has drawn more than 730k views, was over seven minutes long. Before eating, Teigen laid out the rules: there was no time limit, but leaving the building, needing a bathroom break, or throwing up would result in disqualification. The cousins used different strategies throughout the video. Avery said she was following an “eat ’til death” approach, while Teigen said she brought low-calorie sauces from home to help her get through the challenge. The competition began with a staff member’s underestimate A McDonald’s staff member was asked how many nuggets he thought the pair would eat, and he estimated 20, according to the video. That number was far below what the cousins ended up eating over the course of the challenge. Large McDonald’s orders have drawn online attention before, including one customer’s oddly exact $69 total after ordering dozens of Big Macs and nuggets. Footage showed several boxes of 20-piece McNuggets on a table, with Teigen said to have eaten 40 nuggets within the first five minutes. Avery, according to the same video, had eaten 38 in that time. Avery said she felt a “tiny pain,” while Teigen said she was unaffected at that point. @cousinhungergames Cousin Hunger Games Episode IV: Battle of the McNuggets Two cousins enter the arena: History will remember the champion, their stomachs will remember the war Leave a comment what our next challenge should be! #mcdonalds #challenge #food #competition #eat @teigen @averyyyff @McDonald’s @McDonald’s Corporate ♬ original sound – Cousin Hunger Games The pair then ordered another 20 nuggets each. Avery said she had the “meat sweats” while walking back to the table, and added, “Consider us frontline soldiers against the Ozempidemic.” Around the 15-minute mark, Avery was visibly struggling to continue eating. Teigen addressed claims that the pair does not actually eat the food during these challenges, saying they put their bodies “on the goddamn line” for the videos. The footage then cut to a faster-paced eating segment. By that point, Teigen was said to be 56 nuggets in, while Avery was at 50, with both saying they were getting full. As Teigen reached 60 nuggets, Avery appeared to slow down. The two then ordered another 20 nuggets each, bringing their reported spending to around $40, according to Avery’s comments in the footage. Avery said, “Each entire soul is looking down at me and saying, ‘What the literal f–k is wrong with you?'” According to the video, the competition grew more chaotic from that point. Teigen joked that a child pictured in an advertisement on the table appeared to be judging her. She also threw a ketchup bottle at Avery, knocking over what the video described as her dip pyramid, which caused Avery to laugh. Teigen asked, “Do you think when our moms had us, this is what… just eating copious amounts of food online?” Avery, still laughing began using dip containers as fake eyes. Teigen also commented on the food itself, saying, “This is a good batch, which is a shame because when we’re like 70 in, they’re starting to taste like chicken-flavored yoga mats at this point. They’re not good.” When both cousins reached 75 nuggets each, they said they decided to “lock the f–k in.” Avery said she had a headache and told Teigen, “I love you, but I hate how competitive you are.” Teigen responded, “I hate how competitive I am too.” Both cousins later reached 80 nuggets each. Teigen went back to order four more nuggets but only finished one, bringing the final count to 81 for Teigen and 80 for Avery, according to the video. When Teigen asked Avery what she had to say for herself, Avery responded, “I hate myself.” The video ends with Avery ordering a final drink and telling Teigen she was limping, while Teigen is shown twerking.  Several commenters reacted to the video online. One user wrote, “Oh that’s impressive… back in the day we ordered like 150 wings for a nfc championship game. I think I put down like 60…. Kudos ladies, kudos.” Another user commented, “I love the progressive downfall of fullness.” A user wrote, “Um, I love a good challenge but the time I would spend in the restroom afterwards is an excellent deterrent. Kudos to you two though.” Another commenter wrote, “Commenting to help you pay for the next round!” A third user commented, “i don’t have a cousin that would do this with me.” Regarding the ingredients in Chicken McNuggets, Everyday Health states that the product contains more than just chicken and batter. According to the outlet, McDonald’s lists white boneless chicken, vegetable oil, enriched flour, bleached wheat flour, yellow corn flour, vegetable starch, salt, leavening agents, spices, yeast extracts, lemon juice solids, dextrose, and natural flavors among the ingredients.  Natural flavors can come from spices, fruit and vegetable juices, yeast, plant materials such as herbs or leaves, meat, seafood, poultry, dairy, egg, or fermentation products. According to figures listed on the U.K. McDonald’s website, 81 McNuggets contain about 7.695 grams of salt and 20.25 grams of saturated fat, while 80 McNuggets contain about 7.6 grams of salt and 20 grams of saturated fat. High-salt eating habits have raised health concerns elsewhere online, including a case where a woman’s blood work revealed high sodium levels after she said she regularly dipped chips in salt.
