We have analysed Crysencio Summerville and Savinho’s underlying statistics to assess which player would be the better fit for Tottenham Hotspur this summer. There is reason for quiet optimism within the Tottenham Hotspur camp as the club continues to work on improving its squad ahead of the new season.Four signings have already come through the door, with three joining on free transfers – Andy Robertson, Martin Dubravka, and Marcos Senesi – as well as Jan Paul van Hecke’s £52 million move from Brighton.Tottenham have also agreed deals for both Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali in midfield.Work is also expected to be done to further improve the attack, with Crysencio Summerville and Savinho two players linked with Tottenham. But how do these two wide forwards compare, and which one would be the better signing? We have now taken a look at the underlying numbers from the last two seasons.Photo by Heuler Andrey/Eurasia Sport Images/Getty ImagesSpurs need more attacking firepowerBolstering the forward line is a no-brainer for Tottenham given how poorly they have performed in front of goal over the last two seasons.SeasonPremier League goals2016/17862017/18742018/19672019/20612020/21682021/22692022/23702023/24742024/25642025/2648Tottenham goals scored per season: Spurs’ attacking output across the past decade. The drop-off started in 2024/25, one of the few campaigns where Spurs were without the peak powers of Harry Kane and one where Heung-min Son‘s influence appeared to have declined.Work has been done to replace Kane, with Dominic Solanke coming through the door, but that in itself has proven incredibly difficult. However, since Son’s departure, no out-and-out winger has been brought in to bolster the left flank, which makes links with Savinho and Summerville unsurprising. At the moment, both players are incredibly versatile, which bodes well for Tottenham, who often have to deal with severe injury crises during the course of a season.Savinho and Summerville are capable of playing right across the front line and have done so a handful of times during their careers. However, the two have spent most of their careers playing either on the left or right of the attack. It is worth noting that Summerville has played more games on the right, while Savinho has featured more often on the left.PositionSummerville AppsSummerville GoalsSummerville AssistsSavinho AppsSavinho GoalsSavinho AssistsLeft Winger942816791315Right Winger103231569610Centre-Forward731200Attacking Midfield600911Left Midfield501201Right Midfield301102Tottenham targets Crysencio Summerville and Savinho stats by positionWhile both players are capable wingers, Crysencio Summerville does have the edge when it comes to overall output in terms of goals and assists. The Dutchman has scored and assisted more often than Savinho, although it is worth noting he is older and has played considerably more matches.Still, if Spurs are eyeing a player with a stronger end-product, stats do suggest that Summerville is the better option overall.Tottenham would get different qualities from Savinho and Crysencio SummervilleWhile goals and assists do play a big role in making these sorts of decisions, comparing the underlying numbers of these players also helps when assessing the better option.Merely observing both players with the naked eye, their styles of play are not too dissimilar. They are both very direct wingers who love taking on defenders and are also creative ball carriers. The underlying numbers do back up that claim, but there is a standout pick when it comes to where each player is most effective.Savinho barely featured last season in the Premier League, playing just 821 minutes, while the same was true of Summerville during the 2024/25 campaign when he managed only 780 minutes. As such, data from Savinho’s 2024/25 season and Summerville’s 2025/26 season provide a much fairer comparison. We have now looked at Summerville’s 2025/26 season, where he played enough games to generate a meaningful sample size, and compared it with Savinho’s 2024/25 campaign, where he also featured regularly in the league. The data from those two seasons makes for interesting reading.PlayerProgressive CarriesDribbles CompletedNPGnpxG + xAAssistsKey PassesCrosses CompletedMinutesSummerville (2025/26)71.377.752.761.524.219.231.82707Savinho (2024/25)98.295.99.588.089.382.887.31912Summerville vs Savinho comparison: Underlying numbers highlighting each winger’s strengths. The numbers paint a fairly clear picture of what Tottenham would be getting from each player.Savinho comes out on top as the superior creator. The Brazilian ranks significantly higher for progressive carries, dribbles completed, assists, key passes and completed crosses. He is the more dangerous playmaker and ball-progressor of the two, thriving when given the freedom to create chances for teammates.Summerville, meanwhile, has the advantage when it comes to goal threat. His non-penalty goals percentile is considerably stronger, suggesting he is more likely to contribute directly in front of goal rather than primarily creating opportunities for others. In the 2024/25 season, when Savinho received enough game time, he managed one goal and 10 assists. Summerville, meanwhile, recorded five goals and four assists in the last campaign when he became a regular starter. That is only a difference of two goal contributions, but it is worth noting that Savinho achieved his numbers while playing in a much stronger Manchester City side.Truth be told, both players are top footballers who would bring something different to Tottenham on the left wing. Both also come with different price tags, with Savinho valued at £60 million by Manchester City, while Summerville is valued at £43 million. In terms of value for money, it is very close, but at the moment, based on current form, Summerville stands out as the better option. However, when looking at long-term potential, there is a case to be made for Savinho. The Brazil international is three years younger and could well become a much better footballer by the time he reaches Summerville’s age, particularly if he develops under Roberto De Zerbi.READ MORE: Alfie Devine transfer update: Tottenham clause expires in 24 hours as Champions League hopefuls enter the raceThe post Crycensio Summerville vs Savinho stats: Which winger is the best fit for Tottenham? appeared first on Spurs Web.
