While addressing the media on Tuesday, Minister Balaam Barugahara urged young men to opt for DNA tests as soon as their partners give birth to eliminate the mistaken paternity cases that arise later.The issue of DNA has dominated the entertainment space in the past month after DNA tests confirmed that only 4 of the 25 individuals who underwent testing to verify claims of being children of the late Kadongo Kamu legend Paul Job Kafeero were indeed his biological children.While addressing journalists at the Uganda Media Center, Hon. Balaam stated that during his time as the Minister of State for Gender, Labour, and Social Development in charge of children and youth affairs, he discovered that many men are taking care of children that aren’t biologically theirs.Ex-MP Munyagwa says men shouldn’t doubt wives’ paternity claimsHe revealed how, during his tenure, only 12 tests out of 250 DNA tests conducted turned out positive, with all the remaining 238 turning out negative.He has since advised young men to limit sexual intercourse with multiple partners or carry out DNA tests at birth to eliminate paternity issues later on.Out of the 250 DNA tests we conducted, 238 were negative. The men were not the biological fathers of the babies, yet they were being harassed every day. Only 12 were positive.
