Samsung starts developing One UI 9.0 for Galaxy Z Fold 6, Flip 6

In May, Samsung unveiled its latest Android skin for its smartphones and tablets, One UI 9.0, and made its beta version available for the Galaxy S26 series. Since then, the brand has been working on releasing it for eligible devices. Now, the company seems to have started testing the new software for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6.On Samsung’s server, new firmware files for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6 featuring One UI 9.0 have been spotted (via Tarun Vats). It suggests that the tech giant has started working on releasing the latest Android skin for its flagship foldable smartphones in 2024. Unfortunately, the versions of firmware files aren’t available at the moment.One UI 9.0 is based on Android 17. Along with the upgrades the new version of the operating system brings, Samsung has packed its latest Android skin with more Quick Panel customisation options, new features for Game Booster and Samsung Notes, the ability to notify users when an app is using location, and enhancements to several accessibility features.Samsung is expected to debut the stable version of One UI 9.0 on July 22, 2026, with the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8. The brand is expected to start rolling out to older devices soon after. While newer and higher-end models could get in August and September, older and entry-level ones may get it in September and November.
