Spotted by 9to5Google, a new app called Pixel Audio Services appears to add new system sounds through the Play Store rather than a full system update.Some audio can already be swapped out easily — you can set whatever audio you want as a ringtone, for example. But other sounds, like the noises your phone makes when you lock and unlock it or plug it in to charge, are part of your phone’s system files. Poking around the Pixel Audio Services app, we’ve found it can install new sounds via APEX files, and given the app is updated through the Play Store, Google could use it to deliver new sounds whenever it wants rather than just in Android updates.
