U.S. Military to Station at Disney World in Anticipation of July 4 Crowds

We’re just a few days away from one of the busiest weekends at Walt Disney World Resort: July 4. Not only does the patriotic holiday fall on a Saturday in 2026, but it’s also the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. Central Florida Disney Park guests can participate in several themed festivities to celebrate this monumental occasion at The Most Magical Place on Earth, including a military flyover.U.S. Military Dispatched to Disney World For July 4Credit: DisneyWalt Disney World Resort has announced that the U.S. Air Force Reserve’s 920th Rescue Wing will fly over Magic Kingdom Park and EPCOT on July 4, 2026, at approximately 10:30 a.m, weather permitting. The military aircraft will depart from Florida’s Patrick Space Force Base before passing over both Disney parks.The Most Magical Place on Earth has hosted military flyovers several times over the years, including the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and the U.S. Navy Blue Angels. Six of the Thunderbirds’ F-16 Fighting Falcons most recently flew over EPCOT and Magic Kingdom Park on October 30, 2023, as a celebration of National Veterans and Military Families Month the following November.On July 4, 2023, a KC-135 Stratotanker from the 91st Air Refueling Squadron at MacDill Air Force Base and four F-35 Lightning II aircraft from the 33rd Fighter Wing at Eglin Air Force Base flew over Magic Kingdom Park to honor 100 years of aerial refueling.Other Independence Day Celebrations at the Central Florida Disney ParksCredit: DisneyThemed character greetings, exclusive food and beverage items, limited-time merchandise, and red, white, and blue decorations will be available for guests to enjoy across Walt Disney World Resort throughout Independence Day Weekend.Magic Kingdom ParkOn July 3, 4, and 5, Magic Kingdom Park will offer the stunning 360-degree “Disney’s Celebrate America! — A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” nighttime spectacular over Cinderella Castle. Themed decor already lines Main Street, U.S.A., ahead of the patriotic celebration.Credit: DisneyGuests can also celebrate the United States 250th birthday with Magic Kingdom Park’s iconic Flag Retreat ceremonies, the Electrical Water Pageant, and themed performances by the Dapper Dans and Main Street Philharmonic. EPCOTAt EPCOT, guests can enjoy the Soarin’ Across America overlay. The brand-new film on the flight simulator attraction takes guests through sweeping natural wonders and vibrant cityscapes, from sea to shining sea. The experience features new sights, smells, and a new musical arrangement by Bruce Broughton, who composed the attraction’s original score. On the same dates, Spaceship Earth will be illuminated with patriotic lightning, and the Voices of Liberty will offer additional performances in the American Adventure World Showcase Pavilion.The Portraits of Courage Exhibit, featuring portraits of veterans painted by former President George W. Bush, has been extended through the Fourth of July weekend. Anyone hoping to see special fireworks should head to Magic Kingdom Park or EPCOT, but expect both theme parks to hit capacity early in the day, especially on July 4.
