H-FAST inspection at Barbeque Nation finds alleged food safety violations - The HinduPublished - July 02, 2026 08:19 pm IST - HYDERABADA surprise inspection by the Hyderabad Food Safety Task Force (H-FAST) at a Barbeque Nation outlet in Attapur on Thursday revealed several alleged food safety and hygiene violations.The inspection was carried out after a customer who reportedly fell ill after dining at the restaurant lodged a complaint with the food safety authorities.Officials said the H-FAST team reached the outlet at around 1.30 p.m. on July 2 and inspected the kitchen, storage facilities and food handling practices.According to FSO Soumya Reddy, the team found that fish procured from local markets was being stored in freezers for several days instead of being consumed within a day or two. Also, fish was taken out of cold storage for around 15 minutes for marination and then placed back in the freezer, a practice they described as improper from a food safety perspective.The inspection also revealed alleged discrepancies in food labelling. Officials said containers carried updated marination dates even though the contents had not been replaced, making it difficult to determine when the food had actually been prepared. Some meat products with a shelf life of up to two years were also found in storage.Food safety officials said the restaurant had been inspected about three months ago and was given 15 days to rectify deficiencies.
