Selvam, a resident of Tirupattur. Special teams were formed in the district to prevent illegal sand mining, smuggling of ganja and other banned substances, and petty crime.Police said a team was on routine patrol on Chennai-Bengaluru National Highway (NH-48) at Bangalamedu village near Natrampalli when they seized loads of river sand from a truck.The driver allegedly fled the scene before the police team could arrest him. Police seized the vehicle, and a case was registered. Police are analysing CCTV footage on the route to nab the driver.
