The minister himself came amid the workers to receive their memorandum; he not only spoke with them but even added his name to their chants from the stage.Known for his outspoken style, Minister Anil Vij reached the site where members of the HSEB Workers Union were demonstrating near his residence in Ambala cantt. Late in the evening, when the minister arrived at his home he stepped out of his vehicle and went straight into the crowd of workers. His arrival immediately altered the scene. The minister personally approached to receive the memorandum, which transformed the whole situation.During this, Vij told the workers that he had come himself to take their memorandum, and that when he arrived they were chanting, “Stand up to every oppression; struggle is our slogan.” He suggested adding one more line to that slogan: “Stand up to every oppression; struggle is our slogan, and Anil Vij is with you.”After reaching Ambala and receiving the memorandum from the hundreds of employees who had come from all over Haryana, Vij assured the electricity workers from the stage that a joint meeting of union leaders and departmental officials would be convened in the coming days to take action on their demands.
