The Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Jacob Oboth Oboth has called on public servants to reject corruption and uphold integrity, saying the fight against graft is critical to improving service delivery and restoring public trust in government institutions.The Speaker made the remarks while addressing Christians during a church service at St. Mark Church of Uganda in Muwafu Village, West Budama Central Constituency, Tororo District.Addressing the congregation, the Speaker emphasized the need for accountability and ethical leadership in the public service, urging government officials to faithfully execute their responsibilities for the benefit of all Ugandans.In his closing remarks, the Speaker reminded leaders in the Bukedi Sub-region that the political campaign period was over and that the focus should now shift to delivering on the promises made to the electorate.He called on leaders to work together in transforming Uganda into a prosperous nation where every household has an opportunity to earn a decent income and enjoy a dignified standard of living.The Speaker said eliminating corruption and promoting transparency would strengthen public confidence in government institutions and accelerate national development.Delivering the sermon, the main celebrant, Rt. Rev. Samuel George Bogere Egesa, Bishop of Bukedi Diocese, challenged leaders across the political, cultural, and religious spheres to reject arrogance and embrace servant leadership.The bishop urged those entrusted with authority to regard leadership as a calling to serve and sacrifice for others rather than an avenue for personal enrichment or the pursuit of power.He further appealed to leaders to uphold integrity, humility, and accountability in the discharge of their responsibilities, noting that such values are essential for building peaceful and prosperous communities.The service attracted numerous dignitaries, local leaders, and hundreds of Christians from across the region.
