State officials said the new proposal would expand those protections by creating felony penalties for unlawful ballot seizures before certification.This new felony push is a direct escalation from earlier this year. As we reported, Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco (a Republican and gubernatorial candidate) seized over 650,000 ballots to investigate serious discrepancies in a special election, including reports of mysteriously extra votes.Democrats and Attorney General Rob Bonta went into full panic mode, trying to block the investigation through the courts.
