Takara Tomy has revealed that it will again release the Transformers action figure of Gigawatt, which can transform into the DMC DeLorean car from the Back to the Future movie, with a 40th anniversary-branded packaging in late December 2026 in Japan. The company has also opened pre-orders for the figure with a price tag of ¥6,600 (~$40.60). This is not the first time this action figure has been released, though. Takara Tomy previously released the same figure in late 2020 with its package featuring a 35th anniversary logo of the science fiction movie that premiered in 1985. This new release will update the logo to the 40th anniversary, which originally fell in 2025. Here are the sample images showing how the figure can transform between Gigawatt and the DeLorean car: Takara Tomy will guarantee the figure’s stock to those who have ordered by Wednesday, August 5, 2026. However, despite featuring a crossover with an American movie, the Takara Tomy Mall still strictly restricts orders and shipments of this action figure to Japan only, with its Buyee widget support also disabled. People residing outside Japan can instead place their orders via AmiAmi, which also offers a discounted price of ¥5,280 (~$32.50) before shipping. The Transformers Gigawatt action figure with the Back to the Future 40th anniversary package will be available in Japan in late December 2026.
