Godolphin homebred TALLEYRAND (c, 2, Into Mischief–Pretty City Dancer, by Tapit), a full-brother to 'TDN Rising Stars' presented by Hagyard Pretty Mischievous, the 2023 GI Kentucky Oaks winner, and a half to Bella Ballerina (Street Sense), a two-time winner at the Grade II level including this year's Rachel Alexandra Stakes, did just enough to open his account at first asking with a narrow victory at Ellis Park Thursday afternoon.Off as the 13-10 chalk, Talleyrand showed a bit of early speed, but so, too, did three of the rivals drawn underneath him and that consigned the bay colt to a four-wide trip down the back and into the turn.He worked his way into the race nicely while still trapped out at the quarter pole and at one point looked as if he was on to a daylight victory. But his inexperience was on full display just after overtaking the well-backed Town Man (Mo Town), as Talleyrand wanted to lug in badly while failing to put the race to bed and allowing Town Man to come back at him at the fence. But Ben Curtis kept the Godolphin runner up to his task and they were home about half a head to the good.Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0.
