Texas State Rep. Brian Harrison is demanding felony penalties for those engaging in birth tourism in the wake of the Supreme Court decision in Trump v. Barbara, which struck down President Donald Trump’s executive order seeking to limit birthright citizenship.Harrison discussed the issue on Fox News’ “Saturday in America” with host Kayleigh McEnany. The lawmaker began by laying out a plan for Texas to take state-level action against birth tourism, the practice of foreigners entering the country specifically to give birth and secure citizenship for their children.Harrison demanded immediate action from Governor Greg Abbott.“I’m calling for an immediate special session,” Harrison said. “I want Governor Abbott to call us back to the Capitol right now so that we can make birth tourism a state-level felony — that is absolutely an option that’s available to us under our state and federal constitutions.”WATCH: BREAKING: Texas State Rep. We get to decide what’s legal and what’s not legal to operate as businesses in our state.”He also pushed for swift administrative steps that would not require a special session.“And number two, something that doesn’t even require a special session,” he explained. “We need the governor and his political appointee at HHS in Texas to immediately stop issuing birth certificates to illegal aliens and noncitizens.”WATCH: OMG. That is actually incentivizing birth tourism and that is a betrayal of the 30 million Texans who call this state home.”The post Texas State Rep.
