Nottingham Forest have now stepped up their pursuit of Lucas Bergvall as Tottenham are reluctant to let the Swede depart this transfer window.Tottenham Hotspur have so far seen four players depart the club this summer as their rebuild continues to take shape. However, there could be more exits as we go deeper into the summer transfer window. Lucas Bergvall is one pushing for a move after requesting to leave Spurs following a standout campaign with the Lilywhites two seasons ago. Tottenham, on the other hand, are reluctant to sell the midfielder at the moment. Meanwhile, Bergvall wants to play in his preferred midfield position as a number eight.Credit: @thefrederikkejensen / InstagramNottingham Forest push for Lucas Bergvall despite Tottenham reluctanceFootball Insider has now revealed that Nottingham Forest are pushing for a move for Bergvall this summer. The Swede himself is said to be reluctant to make a move to the City Ground given Forest’s struggles last season, where they battled for Premier League survival. However, with Elliot Anderson having now joined Manchester City, and Oliver Glasner at the helm, Marinakis’ side are looking to show some ambition. Forest is said to have made a formal offer to Spurs for Bergvall, but that was rejected. That, however, has not deterred the Tricky Trees’ ambition, as they are now preparing to step up their pursuit.Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider: “Nottingham Forest are now looking for replacements for Elliot Anderson. It is going to be difficult to replace him, it always is when you sell your best player, but there are a few players they are already looking at who could come in and replace him.“Lucas Bergvall has been spoken about, but it will depend whether he is willing to make the move to Forest when they are not playing in Europe.“They want to be optimistic, but it is hard when you have not got much to offer players in terms of their position in the Premier League after they were battling relegation.“But they will be working hard to convince him and some of their other targets that he can come in and make a real difference as part of their ambitious plans.“However they go about it, they want to convince him of the move, and it is difficult if a player does not want to join because there is not always much you can do.“But if there is a suggestion he could be convinced, they have to do what they can to get it over the line.”Spurs face decision as Bergvall pushes for exitTottenham would surely be forced into a decision regarding Bergvall as the transfer window progresses. It would be difficult to keep the Swede at the club if he wants out. At the moment, competition for places in midfield at Spurs is rather fierce, especially after the additions of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.Bergvall now has to compete with Rodrigo Bentancur, Tonali, Fernandes, Archie Gray, Pape Matar Sarr and James Maddison for a place in the Tottenham midfield. However, if Spurs want him to remain at the club, then there must be a plan for the midfielder, who remains a huge talent.READ MORE: Guglielmo Vicario’s Tottenham departure held up due to complications, but Spurs will not agree loanThe post One club hope to convince £45m Lucas Bergvall despite Tottenham’s reluctance to sell appeared first on Spurs Web.
