GHMC driver found dead at Shamshabad, poisoning suspected - The HinduPublished - July 12, 2026 07:07 pm IST - HYDERABADA 46-year-old GHMC driver died after allegedly consuming a pesticide following a domestic quarrel while under the influence of alcohol in Shamshabad on Saturday. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.According to the Shamshabad police, the deceased was identified as Nagaram Ganesh, a resident of Peddagolkonda village in Shamshabad. He is survived by his wife, Nagaram Amrutha, and their two daughters.In her complaint, Amrutha stated that Ganesh, who worked as a driver with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), had a habit of consuming alcohol daily and frequently quarrelled with her after drinking.On Saturday at around 3 p.m., Ganesh returned home in an intoxicated state, picked a quarrel with his wife, assaulted her, took ₹500 from the house and left.About an hour later, villagers informed Amrutha over the phone that Ganesh was lying unconscious near the Lakshmibai area in Pedda Golconda village after allegedly consuming alcohol. Their elder daughter, 18-year-old Archana, rushed to the spot and brought him home in an autorickshaw.When Amrutha reached home, she noticed yellow-coloured froth coming from Ganesh’s nose and mouth and detected the smell of what appeared to be pesticide. Suspecting poisoning, the family shifted him to the Government Hospital in Maheshwaram in a 108 ambulance at around 5.30 p.m.Doctors examined him and declared him dead at around 6.45 p.m.Based on the complaint, Shamshabad police registered a case of unnatural death due to suspected poisoning.
