The Malta Ranger Unit has revealed a shocking case of suspected animal cruelty after a stray cat was found riddled with lead pellets in the south of Malta. In a social media post, the NGO said it was alerted after the cat suddenly began limping. A member of the public took the animal to a veterinarian, where X-rays uncovered the extent of its injuries.According to the Malta Ranger Unit, the cat’s body was found to contain lead pellets “in every part of it”.The organisation said its Rangers are assisting in filing a police report through the proper channels while also helping to cover the costs of the cat’s surgery, which is scheduled to take place this week. The support is being funded through Project100, an initiative by Fabio Spiteri sponsored by Borg Cardona Pet Supplies. The Malta Ranger Unit warned that this is not an isolated incident, urging anyone who discovers cats with similar injuries to get in touch so they can be guided through the reporting process.“This is NOT acceptable,” the organisation said, reiterating its commitment to strengthening animal welfare and environmental protection across the Maltese Islands.Share to raise awareness!Photo credits to Malta Rangers Unit Malta•
