Oh, this explains it. I have no experience with such communities or gift cards, and I was confused at the comments here bashing the CB for the gift cards. Personally my logic was "instead of listing a bunch of items and having people who help click on all of them, I consolidate and save everyone mental resource". So gift cards made some sense to me. But that's presuming the intentions are good and the claim is genuine.
