Modders in the PC gaming community, thank you for always thinking up and developing the wildest ideas. The latest and coolest creation I’ve seen lately in a sea of incredible ones is a three-dimensional virtual reality port of famously 2D game Stardew Valley. Yeah, this one sure is unique, and although I’m not sure of the practicality of it all, you can’t deny the wow factor. Making a ton of progress with the 3D/VR Port of Stardew Valley. Voxel/Cross-Plane rendering which gives off a kind of "fake" 3D effect. Point selecting on wrist HUD, seamlessly switch between 2D/3D/VR, Characters/monsters now face you + a lot more #stardew #vr #virtualreality pic.twitter.com/w0ryrhQA8m— GingasVR (@gingasvr) July 6, 2026 Self-proclaimed “PCVR Elitist” and VR modder GingasVR showed off an update to their work-in-progress 3D VR port of Stardew, and it’s impossible not to be impressed by the work that must go in to creating something like this. The mod includes the ability to walk around the world, pull up the menu on your wrist, motion-based support for “a lot of actions,” and even the ability to seamlessly switch from 3D back to 2D. A VR mod is one thing, but it’s also taking the 2D world of Stardew and making it 3D and fully explorable and playable in first-person with motion controls. It’s amazing, and stuff like this really makes me appreciate not only PC gaming but the modding community in general. It’s so cool to see what passion, knowledge, and a lot of hard work can birth. This is no doubt a very niche concoction. Stardew’s a hugely popular game, but VR is still, after all these years, an acquired taste and far from a mainstream method of playing games. But I can only sit back in awe while watching what GingasVR is creating, because I can’t even begin to wrap my head around how it’s being made. I personally enjoy VR gaming but only in short bursts, because it becomes uncomfortable for me quite quickly. VR sickness makes the hobby impossible for many, and wearing a heavy headset while standing and moving around also becomes cumbersome after a while, but I hope that the crossover between Stardew fanatics and VR enthusiasts will love giving this one a try whenever it’s completed.0The post Stardew Valley 3D VR mod exemplifies PC gaming’s greatness and gamers’ ingenuity appeared first on Destructoid.
