The Jockey Club Safety Net Foundation Fashionable Fillies Luncheon will feature an interview by Donna Brothers with Cherie DeVaux, two iconic women in the horse racing industry.DeVaux made headlines this year as the first woman to train a Kentucky Derby winner and the second to train a Belmont Stakes winner–both with Golden Tempo. Donna Brothers is a former jockey who won more than 1,100 races and is known for her on-horseback interviews during the Triple Crown and Breeders' Cup for NBC Sports. She retired this year after 26 years.“This year's luncheon is a tribute to the women behind Golden Tempo–Cherie Devaux, Daisy Phipps Pulito, Teresa Viola, Monique Delk–and to those behind the headlines,” said Shannon Kelly, executive director, The Jockey Club Safety Net Foundation. “The people who care for our horses every day are the backbone of this sport, and their dedication is what makes The Jockey Club Safety Net Foundation so important. They contribute so much behind the scenes, and I'm proud to support them and the vital work they do.”The Fashionable Fillies Luncheon will be held on Monday, Aug. 10, at the Hall of Springs in Saratoga Springs, New York. This signature event brings together the Thoroughbred community and friends of the sport, offering a curated selection of local vendors and boutiques including The Pink Paddock, Violet's of Saratoga, Complexions Spa for Beauty and Wellness, Kent Stetson Handbags, Patty Tobin Jewelry, Mayfair Jewelers, and Christine A. Moore Millinery.All proceeds from the luncheon will benefit the racing community through the foundation's outreach and grants.
