“An appeals court ruled that Marine Le Pen is eligible to run in next year’s presidential election, despite being found guilty of misusing European Parliament funds, reviving the far-right leader’s political fortunes,” the Wall Street Journal reports.“A panel of three judges reduced a lower court sentence from March 2025 that barred Le Pen from seeking office for five years, narrowing the effective ban to 15 months.”“The appeals court also reduced Le Pen’s four-year prison sentence to three years. Two years of that term were suspended, judges said.
