Letters to The Editor — July 8, 2026 - The HinduPublished - July 08, 2026 12:24 am ISTThe U.S. at 250The United States has reached a milestone in its democratic journey, guided by its cherished values of secularism and liberalism. As a land of immigrants who propelled its economic prosperity and technological advancements, the U.S. has now positioned itself as the major superpower, though it faces significant challenges from China. However, all is not well, with the current incumbent of the White House undermining the foundations on which the American story was built. It is hoped that the independent democratic institutions of the U.S. will protect and preserve the core ideals enshrined in the country’s Constitution.M. Whether the claims that Booth Level Officers bypassed mandatory door-to-door visits are accurate or politically contested, they warrant a swift and impartial investigation by the Election Commission. Electoral roll revision must remain free of institutional shortcuts and partisan bickering. To sustain public trust in the democratic process, the Chief Electoral Officer should ensure strict adherence to door-to-door verification guidelines. Administrative transparency is essential to safeguard every eligible citizen’s voting rights without bias.Andrea Anthony,HyderabadPublished - July 08, 2026 12:24 am ISTSign in to unlock member-only benefits!Access 10 free stories every monthSave stories to read laterAccess to comment on every storySign-up/manage your newsletter subscriptions with a single clickGet notified by email for early access to discounts & offers on our products${ ind + 1 } ${ device }Last active - ${ la }
