Square Enix announced a Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis shutdown and confirmed one of the final storylines will be the first worldwide release of Before Crisis FFVII. Its three chapters will show up over the next three months ahead of the complete closure of the game at 11pm PT on October 6, 2026. Sales of Red Crystals already ended. No reason was offered for the shutdown of FFVII Ever Crisis. Square Enix only noted it would “be difficult” to “provide the best experience” going forward. The statement about end of service did not mention if there will be any offline version offered. However, the final Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis roadmap included details about the full release of the Turks prequel Before Crisis FFVII and the end of the original game’s storyline. Chapter 1 of Before Crisis, which followed original characters, Reno, Rude, Tseng, and Cissnei, will show up in July 2026 alongside a Beach Festival Fun event. In August 2026, Chapter 2 of that storyline and Chapter 12 of FFVII will launch alongside a new event. September 2026 will involve a 3rd Anniversary Tower event, general event, and the end of both the original and prequel storylines.
