A male driver narrowly escaped injury after the car he was driving crashed into an Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) distribution pole at Anfoega Adame Newtown in the North Dayi District of the Volta Region.According to a post on Facebook by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the accident occurred on Sunday, 6th July 2026, directly opposite the Anfoega Fire Station, enabling firefighters to respond immediately after witnessing the incident.Personnel from the GNFS proceeded to the crash scene, where they found a Hyundai Accent with registration number GW 6383-17 lodged against the electricity distribution pole after the collision.The rescue operation was led by Station Officer I (StnO I) Franklin Soglo. Firefighters swiftly assessed the situation and safely extricated the driver, who had become trapped inside the damaged vehicle.Although the driver escaped the crash without visible injuries, firefighters advised him to seek medical examination as a precaution to rule out any internal injuries or delayed effects resulting from the impact.Following the rescue, the damaged vehicle was towed to the nearest police station as part of investigations into the accident.Firefighters remained at the scene to manage the flow of traffic, ensuring the safe movement of motorists and pedestrians while recovery operations were carried out.The cause of the accident has not yet been established, and investigations are expected to determine what led the vehicle to veer off the road and collide with the electricity pole.
