Construction work continues to expand in EPCOT’s Germany World Showcase Pavilion at Walt Disney World.Credit: Steven Miller, FlickrNestled between the Italy and China pavilions, Germany has been part of EPCOT’s World Showcase since the park opened in 1982, immersing guests in the atmosphere of a traditional German village, complete with cobblestone streets, themed shopping, and dining experiences such as Biergarten Restaurant. Stein Haus has long served as one of the pavilion’s signature retail locations, offering everything from German glassware and steins to holiday ornaments and souvenirs.Earlier this month, guests noticed rolling planters, construction walls, scrim, and scaffolding surrounding the building’s main entrance, with additional barriers later extending to cover the second-story balcony, faux staircase, and the iconic “Stein Haus” sign. Despite the growing construction zone, the shop has remained open to guests via alternate entrances, including the nearby Weinkeller doorway, and Disney has yet to announce any operational impacts or provide details about the project.Credit: Matt Wade, FlickrThe refurbishment is just one of several projects taking place across EPCOT as Disney continues to invest in the park following the multi-year transformation that reshaped the former Future World into the World Celebration, World Discovery, and World Nature neighborhoods. While much of that ambitious overhaul has now concluded, World Showcase has continued to receive periodic updates, with individual pavilions undergoing maintenance, restorations, and smaller enhancement projects designed to preserve the park’s distinctive architecture and guest experience. Now, newly recorded Orange County permit documents offer another clue that work in the area is progressing behind the scenes. Disney has filed an amendment to an existing Notice of Commencement covering general construction at 1750 Avenue of the Stars, an address associated with EPCOT. The amended filing names MSG Legacy, Inc., doing business as RSS Roofing Services and Solutions Florida, as the contractor, and extends the legal notice through January 29, 2027, unless the project is completed sooner or another amendment is filed.Credit: Gary Todd, FlickrWhile Notices of Commencement rarely reveal the exact scope of a project, they are required before construction work can begin or continue in Florida and often signal that active work remains underway. In this case, the filing stops short of confirming exactly what improvements are planned for the Germany Pavilion, but its timing aligns with the increasingly visible construction taking place around Stein Haus.Given that the contractor named in the filing specializes in roofing and exterior building work, the permit appears consistent with what guests can currently see in the pavilion, although Disney has not confirmed whether the refurbishment extends beyond routine maintenance. Until additional permits are filed or Disney shares official details, the project appears to remain focused on preserving one of World Showcase’s most recognizable pavilions rather than introducing a major reimagining or guest-facing overhaul. What is your favorite pavilion in EPCOT’s World Showcase?
