What state? My state requires a license for nearly all positions and has a bachelors level license. A licensed BSW will be hired over an unlicensed MSW and most jobs will hire both BSWs and MSW with the license even though the MSW licensing exam is much more rigorous. I had a horrible time finding a job until I got my license despite having a MSW from a top tier school and no desire to do clinical work. Even non clinical positions often will not hire you without a license As for the invisible disability, I have PTSD, autism, and fibromyalgia and faced profound discrimination in this field and it was to the point that I ended up filing and settling a lawsuit against a company for failure to accommodate, discrimination, and retaliation. I am unsure how advanced your MS is and if it’s visible but for those of us with invisible disabilities like mine it’s really hard for people to take us seriously. I pushed myself to nearly the point of death and still had to leave the field because that experience that led to the lawsuit was so brutal and horrible despite only being there for 6 weeks. In retrospect I kind of wish I would have taken the disablity rights job at our local Center for Independent Living or the job at an insurance agent that I had been offered.
