I feel this in my soul. I remember an older neighbor lady coming over one day when my Irish twins were having a meltdown and she could hear them fussing. I think one of them had a cold and there was a reenactment of toddler-Gettysburg over property rights of Duplo going down at my feet, whilst I was trying to prep dinner.... I was in tears, the kids were in tears. Neighbor lady knocked on the door and said, "I really wanted to show them the butterflies on my patio and pick some flowers, would you mind if I showed them the butterflies?" She scooped the smallest one up and handed the older one a little watering can.... BEST GIFT I HAVE EVER RECEIVED FROM A NEIGHBOR. 10 minutes of pure, quiet bliss! Allowed me to regain my shit.
