According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Bruno Guimaraes has informed Newcastle that he wants to leave the club and join Arsenal. The Premier League champions are now stepping up their efforts and are prepared to pay £60 million to get a deal done, but there have been no club-to-club talks as of yet and Newcastle are not willing to entertain offers for the Brazil international at this point.Having signed a five-year contract in 2023, Guimaraes is bound to Newcastle for two more years. The contract contained a temporary £100 million release clause which expired in 2024.Newcastle have already sold Sandro Tonali to Tottenham Hotspur and they obviously don’t want to weaken their midfield ranks further, though they have signed Sean Steur from Ajax.Guimaraes represented Brazil at the 2026 World Cup and started every game, recording four assists, until his missed penalty helped Norway eliminate Carlo Ancelotti’s side in the round of 16. The 28-year-old wasted a VAR-awarded spot-kick in the 14th minute, and Manchester City star Erling Haaland scored twice in the closing stages of the game for Norway, rendering Neymar’s stoppage-time penalty goal for Brazil irrelevant. The post Bruno Guimaraes wants to leave Newcastle for Arsenal appeared first on SoccerNews.
