Graham Linehan / The Joe Rogan ExperienceIn September 2025, The Gateway Pundit reported that Irish comedy writer Graham Linehan, best known for creating Father Ted and The IT Crowd, was arrested at Heathrow Airport over social media posts criticizing transgender ideology.Linehan was met by five armed officers on arrival in London and detained in connection with three posts made on X.The posts under investigation included one in which Linehan wrote that men entering female-only spaces were committing abusive acts and should be challenged, with police called if necessary.A second post read, “Make a scene, call the cops, and if all else fails, punch him in the balls.”The third post flagged read, “I hate them. Misogynists and homophobes. F*** ’em.”Linehan said he was taken into custody, locked in a cell, and later taken to the hospital because of stress. He added that the condition for his release was that he stop posting on X.Now, almost a year after the arrest, The Free Speech Union shared a video of Linehan announcing that the Metropolitan Police has offered him an ‘unreserved apology’ paid him £25,000.The General Secretary of the Free Speech Union, Lord Young, said, “I’m beginning to lose count of the number of cases we’ve fought in which the police have arrested someone for a tweet, decided to take no further action and then had to pay them substantial compensation for wrongful arrest.“At some point you’d think the penny would drop: police our streets, not our tweets.”Linehan shared his thoughts, noting, “Hello everyone, I’ve just received some very good news from the Free Speech Union. You may remember last year, September, I was arrested at Heathrow Airport for offending that group of men who are trying to get into women’s spaces and sports.”“It created a huge storm and since then I’ve been insulted by even more famous people. So yeah, it’s been quite crazy. We sued the police for wrongful imprisonment and a few other things, and they have agreed to settle.”“So I’ll be receiving an apology and a— some sort of cash stipend, which would come in very handy considering I’ve been on the uppers for the last few years for fighting against this madness.”“Yeah, I just want to say thank you to the Free Speech Union for everything they did for me. And believe me, if they can come for me, they can come for you. So join the Free Speech Union. Uh, you know, I think it’s a yearly stipend.”“Again, I have no idea if I’m using these words correctly. Um, and, and just take, take advantage of them because the more members they have, the more powerful they’ll get. And eventually we won’t have to go to court at all. But in the meantime, I hope you’ll join them and join us in fighting against an increasingly authoritarian left-wing establishment.”Watch: METROPOLITAN POLICE OFFER UNRESERVED APOLOGY TO GRAHAM LINEHAN AND PAY HIM £25,000The Metropolitan Police have at long last offered an unreserved apology to Graham Linehan and paid him £25,000.Last September, the Irish comedian and co-creator of Father Ted was arrested… pic.twitter.com/ziFCDuqz1h— The Free Speech Union (@SpeechUnion) July 9, 2026The post U.K. Police Offer ‘Unreserved Apology’ and £25,000 to Irish Comedian and Writer Graham Linehan After Armed Arrest at Heathrow Airport for ‘Gender-Critical’ X Posts appeared first on The Gateway Pundit.
