Preston North End CEO, Peter Ridsdale, has made an interesting revelation about the negotiations he held with Tottenham regarding Alfie Devine.Devine’s six-year spell at Tottenham has now come to an end, with the attacking midfielder completing a permanent switch to Deepdale on the back of his successful loan spell at the club last season. The Championship club have paid £6m to secure the services of the Spurs academy graduate, which is almost three times their previous transfer record.Additionally, Tottenham are owed 20 per cent of the profit from any future sale of Devine after inserting a clause in the deal with Preston.Credit: Tom Cusden / @cusdenPreston CEO says it was a pleasure working with TottenhamPreston’s purchase clause for Devine was due to expire at the start of this month, but the fact that the deal was only completed on Tuesday suggests that Tottenham were happy to give the second-tier side some leeway. The club’s CEO Peter Ridsdale has now thanked Spurs for the way they handled Devine’s sale this summer.Ridsdale told Preston’s official website: “I would also like to thank Tottenham Hotspur for the way in which they have handled this transfer. It has been a pleasure working with everyone connected with Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.”Spurs have changed their hardline negotiating strategy under Daniel LevyMany former Premier League chairmen have said they hated dealing with Daniel Levy, given the former Tottenham chief’s desire to ‘win’ every negotiation. In fact, it was reported last year that several Premier League clubs had refused to deal with Levy due to his adversarial negotiating style.Vinai Venkatesham and the new Tottenham hierarchy have changed that, as evidenced by how swiftly they have completed some big-money deals this summer. It is fair to say that deals like the Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes ones would have dragged on until the final weeks of the transfer window under the previous Spurs regime.READ MORE: Roma and Barcelona fight Tottenham for Rafael Leao but Spurs have a big advantageThe post Tottenham praised for transfer etiquette post-Daniel Levy – ‘It has been a pleasure working with Spurs’ appeared first on Spurs Web.
