While we got wind of a potential Fallout New Vegas remaster or remake over half a year ago now, Fallout 3 was sort of always excluded from the conversation. It was Bethesda’s first foray into that established franchise and, frankly, not the best game it ever made. But a remake of this 2008 title was, at least at some point, in the works, with a functional build made by “someone” that isn’t Bethesda itself. That is according to journalist Jeff Gerstmann, who said on his show that he had even seen the Fallout 3 remake himself, adding that extensive work was put into it even if the current state of the project is unknown. “Bethesda would not do a Fallout remake themselves,” Gerstmann said. “In fact, someone else has put in quite a lot of work into a Fallout 3 remake that has yet to officially materialize. And I don’t even know if that game is… I assume that that is still happening, but maybe it is dead. Who can say?” Gerstmann said he personally saw footage of a Fallout 3 remake, adding that “someone somewhere made something.” He went on to say that Bethesda’s desire to pursue Starfield and science fiction games likely disturbed most of the projects at the company, and since Starfield took so long to make and then took so long to update and maintain, it’s only logical to assume that. It’s been 15 years since the last mainline The Elder Scrolls game and 11 years since the last proper Fallout, and the only question that remains is: was it worth it? 0The post A Fallout 3 remake was in the works at some point but it may never get to leave the Vault appeared first on Destructoid.
