Residents of an apartment block on Triq Luigi Apap in St Julian’s say they feared for their lives after a group of men allegedly broke into the building and attempted to force their way into several apartments in the early hours of Monday morning. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lovin Malta (@lovinmalta)CCTV footage shows the group smashing a glass panel in the building’s front door before moving through the block, tearing metal poles from the stair railings and using them to ram apartment doors.One of the men can be heard shouting in Italian and threatening to kill someone before the group began kicking and striking doors throughout the building.One tenant who spoke to Lovin Malta, whose door leading to the communal area outside his apartment was broken down during the rampage, described waking up in disbelief.“Dogs started barking… I thought, ‘Am I dreaming?'”He said the terrifying situation quickly became real as the group began trying to force their way through the building.“I thought they were coming for me. I was holding the door with one hand and a knife in the other, thinking this was all a dream.”They resident added that it was only his second night living in the apartment.“It was my second night sleeping here. I live in LA, in the middle of Hollywood, and I’ve never seen anything like this.”Despite the extensive damage to the building, no apartments were ultimately entered and no injuries were reported.Police were called to the scene shortly after the incident and investigations are ongoing.Anyone with any information can contact the police annonymousily.•
