Though it launched to generally positive reviews across the globe (except for China, because that seems to be the norm for Steam these days), Black Flag Resynced has been receiving a good chunk of negative feedback due to the game’s excessive DLCs and microtransactions that are shoved in your face from the moment you get to the main menu. And Ubisoft is actually going into the Steam review section for its game and responding to most of the top-rated negative reviews, copy-pasting the same response where it says these DLCs are merely “optional extras” for those who want to buy them. As first spotted by GamesRadar, Ubisoft had begun responding to negative reviews under the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Steam store page that had been criticizing the title for throwing in so many DLCs and microtransactions in an otherwise single-player game. The company also did this in the original 2013 version, so it’s not like we’re dealing with anything new. Ubisoft has been going into reviews and responding to them one by one, albeit with the same text. Screenshot by Destructoid However, folks have grown tired of this business, and it has, in fact, been declining over the last few years, but Ubisoft just couldn’t help it. The company is now defending its inclusion of these “optional extras,” as it calls them, but also highlighted that it’s listening to player feedback and looking into implementing it down the line. “We’ve seen your feedback since launch, and we’re reading all of it. Thank you for caring this much about Black Flag Resynced. We want to be clear on one point: the standard edition is the full, complete experience. Every mission, every island, the full story, and the complete world are all there, with nothing held back,” Ubisoft wrote. “The additional packs are entirely optional extras for players who want them, never a requirement to enjoy or complete the game. We’ll keep listening as you play!” Comments for most of these reviews are blocked, so we could not find any community members responding to Ubisoft’s reply, but I’m pretty sure that comment about optional extras won’t go over well with a lot of folks out there. What makes me mad in particular is that I didn’t really notice or see any of these DLCs when I was reviewing the game, and I think that’s not fair to our readers. Still, the community was quick to respond in our stead, so let’s hope Ubisoft will correct course and scale down the microtransactions. But it probably won’t. 0The post Ubisoft is spam-replying to negative Steam reviews on Black Flag Resynced, saying Day 1 DLCs are ‘optional extras’ appeared first on Destructoid.
