Nobody who had a child before 2021 could predict how much the cost of daycare would increase with COVID. It never went back down. Around here the price of daycare nearly quadrupled. We had a lot of low cost placements for lower income children through nonprofits but lost over 1000 of them, in a county with 50,000 people in it. Federal government has also suddenly and effectively gutted assistance programs.
