I know many people think this is a catfish, and I dont fully disagree, but I carefully read this to see if this was a friend of mine, who did something very similar, met someone in the Philippines online and lost their job at the last second, and crowdfunded for travel expenses, except they are now married and she lives here. Their note they put on social media was more personal though, kinda tragic, and very romantic. I only have extra money to give to struggling parents I know (too many unfortunately), but if venmo was a thing when I was twenty I would have thrown the guy a few bucks.
