Rebs Gaming, a content creator and YouTuber known for his coverage of what happens behind the scenes of Halo, has come out with a new report, this time accusing Halo Studios chief Pierre Hintze of severely mismanaging its projects, as well as mistreating and even abusing developers. According to him, Hintze was “reported to HR multiple times, by multiple employees, for several different reasons,” including the mistreatment of employees. “He constantly berates the development teams, so much so that they don’t even want to show their work for fear of him blowing up at them,” Rebs said. “A memo was delivered from the engineering team regarding work-life balance, and Pierre responded, ‘I don’t give a f**k.’ And he often downplays employees’ questions about becoming full-time or getting better opportunities,” Rebs outlined. The YouTuber also cites a former employee’s complaint, where the person was allegedly “verbally blasted by Pierre.” “It’s emotional and shocking,” the quote goes. “And, to this day, I cannot believe Microsoft HR and Microsoft Legal did not give me the time of day. Pierre literally told me to get the f**k out of the studio. It traumatized me.” Rebs claims that former Halo Studios head of production, Michael Fahrny, was fired from the studio while on medical leave, following a demotion allegedly caused by Campaign Evolved‘s troubled development. The YouTuber also alleges Hintze was “cruel” to Fahrny and berated him for how work was going on the mentioned remake. “Pierre verbally abused the entire Campaign Evolved team,” Rebs added, indicating that development on the remake was in dire straits because of mismanagement but that Hintze blamed the staff. “He did no work on a roadmap, did not plan things out correctly, and constantly changed priorities for the development team,” Rebs said. To corroborate his claims, Rebs cited Glenn Israel, former 343 Industries’ art director for over 15 and a half years, who was fired from Halo Studios because his role was “no longer needed” even though another artist had been promoted to that same role only a month later. He previously filled three different director-level roles on three different projects, indicating the chaotic nature of Xbox and Halo Studios at the time. Furthermore, as we wrote a few months ago, Israel allegedly “witnessed firsthand or was personally subjected to numerous unethical and/or unlawful acts,” such as “blacklisting, fraud regarding compensation, rampant favoritism, and multiple harassment campaigns.” Halo Studios and Xbox haven’t been at their best for a long time now, but with the upcoming management changes at Microsoft’s chief gaming division, perhaps we’ll start seeing some real progress made when it comes to the quality of their games as well as the quality of their work environments. 0The post ‘It’s emotional and shocking:’ Halo Studios devs accuse Pierre Hintze of severe abuse and mistreatment, according to new report appeared first on Destructoid.
