BBC’s Match of the Day have been blasted for its coverage of Tottenham’s 0-0 draw with Everton on Saturday, with the Lilywhites’ former boss, Thomas Frank, in the studio.Spurs’ inability to score in six hours of Premier League football has been one of the biggest talking points since Saturday.Roberto De Zerbi has come under harsh criticism from parts of the media for failing to construct a team that can create and convert chances despite spending huge amounts in the summer. His predecessor in the Tottenham hot seat, Thomas Frank, was a pundit on Match of the Day, tasked with analysing the club’s 0-0 draw against Everton.Credit: @thefrederikkejensen / InstagramMatch of the Day criticised for not asking Thomas Frank’s opinion of Tottenham’s performanceWhen dissecting the 0-0 draw at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Match of the Day did not include any analysis from Frank about Spurs’ current issues.Instead, fellow pundit Ashley Williams was the one who did the talking, with his analysis mainly revolving around the performance of James Garner. This did not go down with talkSPORT host and Spurs fan Paul Hawksbee, who said on talkSPORT’s Hawksbee and Jacobs: “There seemed to be a real odd abdication of responsibility on Match of the Day the other night. Thomas Frank was in the studio, and Tottenham v Everton was last. It wasn’t a thriller, but there is a story there… it seemed to be the story everywhere else on planet Earth, that Tottenham haven’t scored; another game they haven’t scored.“So what they did at the end of Match of the Day, was do an in-depth look at James Garner and his performance, and they never involved Thomas Frank at all. They just said to Ashley, ‘James Garner was good, wasn’t he?’ He said, ‘Yes, he was’, and they showed a few bits. He did play well but (Jarrad) Branthwaite, I thought, was their best player, I thought he was brilliant. A, if you were going to single anybody out, it would have been him.“And B, I just thought Thomas Frank had said, ‘I don’t want to talk about Spurs, especially the way it’s going’… well, don’t be a pundit then! “I’m sure they will say that wasn’t the case and they’ve been waiting for weeks to do the James Garner deep dive. I sat there and thought, ‘Thomas Frank is on, I’d be interested to know what he says’. It was just a cop-out and, editorially, they’re better than that.”Thomas Frank continues to show that he is a classy manWhatever one thinks of Frank’s ability as a manager and his fit for the Tottenham role, one cannot deny that he is a classy individual who conducted himself with grace through his tumultuous time at Spurs.Until the end, the Dane resisted the urge to throw others under the bus, and even after his sacking, he has not had a single bad thing to say about the club.It is completely in keeping with his dignified personality that he may have asked MOTD to avoid making him criticise his former employers or De Zerbi.READ MORE: De Zerbi reveals if Kudus and Maddison can start for Tottenham vs LiverpoolThe post Thomas Frank and Match of the Day accused of ducking Tottenham challenge appeared first on Spurs Web.
