Bessent: For a nominal amount, the US Treasury was able to signal support for Japanese policies

Wait 5 sec.

I take this comment from Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent as a bullish one for USD/JPY, all else equal. He leaked the above photo, which was obviously staged, and has been talking curiously tough in what's looking more like a jawboning effort than a real credible push. Now we have him talking about only a 'nominal' amount ($5-10 billion show there) and 'signal support' rather than a real campaign. This is the equivalent of the US sending armed rebels rifles and ammo rather than putting troops on the ground. USD/JPY is up 75 pips today to 155.09, which is a nine-day high.
