Walt Disney World Resort has engulfed the entire Twilight Zone Tower of Terror attraction in scaffolding and other construction materials as part of a project that began roughly six months ago. A refurbishment project began in the outdoor portion of the attraction queue under the Hollywood Tower Hotel facade in early May. Weeks later, Walt Disney World Resort removed flags outside the gift shop and installed protective scrim around decorative portions of the building, presumably to prevent damage during future construction.It wasn’t until July that scaffolding appeared on the outside of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Disney Park guests first observed the construction equipment above the gift shop, and over the last two months, it has crawled to the front of the building and slowly made its way up the towering Hollywood Tower Hotel facade.Credit: DisneyConstruction crews appear to be focused on repainting the building. As the scaffolding reached new portions of the facade, fresh pink paint appeared, contrasting with the weather-worn and faded older coat. It looks like Disney cast members are painting a pink base coat first, then adding layers to make the building look intentionally aged and haunted.Just days ago, Inside the Magic reported that scaffolding had been raised to the top of the 199-foot-tall building at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
