Environmental NGO Żibel has revealed that more than 22 tonnes of rubbish have been removed from Manoel Island Marina since its clean-up efforts there began in 2021. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lovin Malta (@lovinmalta)The group returned to the marina on 5th September for its sixth clean-up at the site, continuing an initiative which has now been running for five years.Across the six clean-ups, volunteers have removed a staggering 22,835kg of rubbish in total, including 11,628kg of tyres, 5,340kg of metal and 2,115kg of glass.“This milestone wouldn’t have been possible if people hadn’t decided to show up for our island,” Żibel said, thanking everyone who has taken part.Founded in 2017, Żibel carries out clean-ups and environmental initiatives across Malta, with volunteers regularly taking part in efforts to remove waste from the country’s coastline and surrounding waters.A huge well done to everyone who has helped keep Malta’s seas cleaner!Instagram Video: zibelofficial•
