THE RUNDOWNTaylor Swift isn’t at the 2026 Emmys ceremony. The singer’s Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show was nominated for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), which was announced during the Creative Arts Emmys earlier this month.Swift has never attended the Emmys, though in 2015, she won her first Emmy in the Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media - Original Interactive Program category.Taylor Swift received a 2026 Emmy nomination for her work as a performer and supervising producer on her concert film Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show in the Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) category. The award was announced at the Creative Arts Emmys earlier this month, and it went to The Muppet Show, whose team included Swift’s friend Sabrina Carpenter, who was a performer and executive producer on the project. With her category already called during the Emmys pre-telecast awards, the singer understandably wasn’t seen at Monday night’s ceremony, where the 19 remaining categories are being announced. The ceremony also coincides with her husband Travis Kelce’s first football game of the season, which is currently being played at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.Swift has never attended the Emmys, though in 2015, she won an award for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media - Original Interactive Program. She’s kept a relatively low profile the past few weeks and was last seen on a dinner date with Kelce in New York City on September 6.Swift could step back into the spotlight later this month, though. On September 27, she’ll be competing in nine different categories at the MTV VMAs.Ahead of the Emmys, Swift campaigned for The Final Show, which had four other nominations that were announced during the Creative Arts Emmys: Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, which honored director Glenn Weiss; Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming; Outstanding Technical Direction and Camerawork for a Special; and Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Variety Series or Special. In late August, Deadline reported on an intimate event Swift hosted for Emmy voters with Weiss in Los Angeles. There, she spoke glowingly about what the project’s team accomplished, highlighting Weiss’s direction.“One of the things that I was so impressed by, and the needle Glenn threaded so effortlessly, is that The Eras Tour was such a phenomenon because of so many factors, but one that I know that is really important is that it was a source of great escapism for the people who were there,” she said.“Glenn and I had conversations about ‘How do we preserve this experience?’” she continued. “Because if you lose the feeling of relaxation and freedom for the fans there, then you’ve lost a huge element of what makes this concert experience so special. Glenn created a situation where the fans could be lost in the moment because of the rehearsals that he did with our dancers and me leading into the final show. If you liked the choreography that you saw of our dancers, you should have seen the footwork of our Steadicam operator.”
